Elementary school teacher Mojca Janžekovič has just finished with SAY activities in her class Environmental Education. She conducted workshops on photo analysis and writing solidarity postcards, which were sent to schools and individuals in the local community. As Mojca wrote on their school website, »the project ended with a solidarity action to collect supplies for the animals. We donated the collected items to the Ljubljana Shelter, where they kindly showed us their premises.«

»I found my visit to the shelter fun and informative. I learnt a lot more about the care of dogs and cats in shelters and about the work of animal handlers and volunteer workers. I was very pleasantly surprised by how well the shelter is kept and how well the animals are cared for. My visit to the shelter reminded me how important it is to support organisations that work for the welfare and safety of animals and try to find them a warm and loving home. But what made me the happiest was to learn that animals are not euthanised for staying too long in the shelter, but are found a home,« said Daša Škrbina.

According to Mojca, once again, »the young people showed that they like to talk about these issues and actively contribute to improving their communities. Participating in the project allowed them to learn through practical activities and first-hand experience the value of solidarity and the importance of working together for the common good. Their enthusiasm and openness to new ideas gave us hope that they will continue to promote positive change in society in the future.«
