Two courses have been chosen to implement SAY initiative (“Solidarity is About Youth2) during the 2023–24 academic year in the IES Doramas (Moya, Las Palmas): 4th B (Secondary Education) and 1st B (High School).

The program involves carefully analyzing six images that address the following current social problems: discrimination, racism, gender inequality, climate change, mental health, and conflicts. From the photographs that address these issues, the students had to create a text to send through a postcard with a message of solidarity.

On this occasion, and after agreement with the students, they chose a group of institutions and entities from the municipality of Moya that stood out for their service to citizens. They prepare a varied list: the municipal library, health center, care centers for seniors and unaccompanied foreign minors, mayor's office, youth information center, pharmacy, women's care center, municipal radio, local police, and civil protection, among others.

Each student chose a topic related to the entity to which they would carry it and looked for the specific name of the person responsible for the institution (director, coordinator), the address and the schedule. In that sense, the meet and visit were also an opportunity to present the solidarity project.

The fundamental content of the postcard should be to thank this person, as a representative of the entity, for the work they do serving the citizens in the Moyense municipality. In order to ensure that the delivery was made by hand, each of the students received an acknowledgment of receipt that should be completed with the signature of the person to whom the postcard was given.

SAY aims to promote European values through greater cultural, artistic, and civic education in six European countries, including Spain. The goal is for young people to learn valuable skills that help them better understand the world and be active citizens.
