Local community actions in schools in Poland!

In the spring of 2022, in several schools participating in the BEST project in Poland organized social campaigns promoting the values of the program, such as solidarity and tolerance, and addressing important social problems, such as climate change,
mental health, discrimination, and social inequalities. See the report from the four selected actions.
A sensory garden in the school yard? Sounds unreal? Students of Primary School No. 10 1 in Zamość under the leadership of Anna Zacharzyńska took up this challenge! The main assumption of a sensory garden is to influence all the senses of people staying in it. Local residents and residents will also be able to use the garden.
Preschoolers from Grabownica Starzeniaska focused on promoting ecological habits in everyday life. A forester and a dietitian shared her knowledge with the youngest children.
Children learned about recycling and food choices that are good for the planet. Together with the seamstress they sewed reusable shopping nets. The acquired knowledge and the effects of their work were presented by young people during a local family picnic.
Students from Niedrzwica Duży sewed 37 pencil cases and 23 bags for the charges Special School and Educational Center in Załucz. For every bag and pencil case prepared tickets with a good word and a motivating quote. As the teacher coordinating the
action, Mariola Matlakowska describes, “ During the meeting with the teachers from the Center, students were curious and intimidated, most of them had never dealt with people with disabilities. We were warmly welcomed during our visit to the Center. Most of the people opened up quickly, there were even dances with their pupils, and some of them kept their distance and uncertainty, but all showed respect and understanding.
What is solidarity for you? - this question was asked by their peers from the Communication School Complex in Poznań. As part of the action, they organized a photo competition, for which several dozen works were sent in response to what solidarity is.
